February 2025's Featured Sermon of the Month
Taking Responsibility for Our Future
For this month's featured sermon, Pastor Sicairos delivered a powerful message from Nehemiah 6:3, where Nehemiah boldly declared:
“I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?”
Nehemiah understood something that every believer must grasp—when God calls you to build, you cannot afford to be distracted.
The enemy sent messages trying to lure Nehemiah away from the work. They wanted to delay him, discourage him, and ultimately destroy what God was doing. But Nehemiah stood firm:
“I cannot come down.”
How many times have distractions pulled you away from what God has called you to do? How often has fear, criticism, or busyness kept you from walking in obedience?
The enemy knows that if he can’t stop you, he’ll try to slow you down. But just like Nehemiah, we must stand firm and declare: “I cannot come down.”
The Urgency of the Hour
Every day we are given is a gift from God, an opportunity to serve Him. Pastor Sicairos reminded the congregation of Lamentations 3:22-23:
“It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
If you woke up this morning, that means God is not finished with you yet. The work He has for you is still unfinished, and the time to act is now.
Nehemiah saw the urgency. He knew that delaying the work meant leaving his people vulnerable. The same is true today—souls are at stake, families are at risk, and the church must rise up.
Overcoming Opposition
The moment you commit to doing God’s work, expect resistance. Nehemiah’s enemies sent lies, accusations, and distractions his way, hoping to wear him down.
Nehemiah 6:9 says:
“For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.”
The enemy wants to weaken your hands—to make you feel too tired, too discouraged, too busy, too unqualified. But Nehemiah didn’t stop. Instead, he prayed for strength.
Some of you are facing opposition right now. The enemy is whispering lies, trying to convince you to quit. But God is your strength.
Psalm 3:3 declares:
“But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
When the weight of the world presses down on you, God lifts your head. He gives strength to the weary, power to the faint, and courage to those who feel like giving up.
The Future Depends on Our Faithfulness
Nehemiah wasn’t just building for himself—he was building for future generations.
Pastor Sicairos reminded the congregation of Isaiah 41:10:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
The decisions you make today impact those who come after you. The prayers you pray, the faith you hold onto, the battles you fight—they shape the future.
There are young people watching, waiting for someone to show them what it means to follow Christ. There are families in need of godly leadership. There are souls on the edge of eternity who need to hear the Gospel.
Will we rise up and build, or will we step aside and let the walls remain broken?
Are You Willing to Rise Up?
Pastor Sicairos ended with a challenge:
Are you allowing distractions to pull you away from what God has called you to do?
Do you recognize the urgency of the moment and the importance of your obedience?
Are you building something that will last beyond your lifetime?
Now is not the time to come down. Now is the time to rise up.
“Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7)
